Prayer 2.0 – Praying in the Spirit!

We discuss the baptism in the Holy Spirit and the gift of praying in tongues and why we need to pray in tongues.

Ever wondered what to pray for when you don’t know what to pray or for whom to pray? Can we pray when we are busy with other things? We discuss this in Praying in the Spirit Prayer 2.0 our final part in this series

The humility of Christ as foundation to our faith.

In the humility of Jesus Christ we have a revelation of what should form a part of the foundation of what each of us believe.
Understanding the foundation of our faith is to be strengthened in our faith. We are expected in our everyday lives to provide; preform ; and to be successful. We tend to carry this mentality with us when it comes to our relationship with God and we end up feeling like we are letting God down.
In Christ’s humility we learn that it is not up to us ; that is why God send His only begotten son – to be lowered ; in death – so that the sinfulness of our self can die – [but so that ultimately we may rise up with Christ]

How to receive your healing!

It is God’s will for you to be healed.  I’ve put together a five part series on prayer and healing and how to receive your healing. We look at healing from the following points:

  • JESUS – Jesus is the reason we are able to receive healing and He should always be central to any teaching on healing.
  • FAITH – Without faith it is impossible to please God. We look at faith, what is faith? How do we get faith? What is the role of faith in our healing.
  • PRAYER – Have you asked for your healing? We look at the role of prayer and discuss the assumption that God is moved by our need where in fact God is not moved by our need but by our faith.
  • THE WORD OF GOD – How can we pray the will of God if we do not know the word of God? Did you know that God’s word is medicine to your flesh. We discuss scriptures where God’s promise is healing.
  • THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB – The believers atomic weapon. We discuss the blood of Jesus, it’s significance and role in our healing.
  • WHY DO SOME PEOPLE NOT GET HEALED – The reasons are a few and they are many but we answer the tough questions and we provide some comfort.
  • THE HOLY SPIRIT – Our helper and comforter, we see the role of the Holy Spirit and how He is essential in our physical healing.

How to pray?

In our previous post we looked at the privilege and opportunity of prayer; in this post we are discussing ways we can pray effectively:

  1.  We come in the Name of Jesus, our prayers are answered not because of what we do but because of what Jesus has done for us. Because of the perfect and finished work of the cross.
  2. We come with praise. Look at the Lord’s prayer in Matthew Chapter 6 verse 9 and see how Jesus starts the prayer with praise. Look at Leviticus 2:13 and 2 Cron 20:20 and see how the Israelites of old covenant were told to bring salt with all their offerings. In the same way we are to bring all our offerings with praise.
  3. Blend every prayer with thanksgiving! (Read Phil 4:6-7) Though you may find yourself praying from the deepest pits of trouble and darkness give your prayers the silver wings of thanksgiving (a) we have abundant cause for thanksgiving (b) we come as children and not as slaves (c) we watch with eager expectation for our prayers to be answered. See Romans 1 for an example of how Paul the Apostle mixed prayer with thanksgiving and praise.
  4. Come with a clear knowledge of what to ask. General prayer is blessed but asking for distinct blessings together with our general prayer is also needed. I suggest you keep a prayer journal and also find some scriptures with promises for or about what you are praying for.

The privilege and opertunity of prayer!

Hebrews 4:16

“Let us the approach God’s throne of Grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need”

It is a privilege for us to pray, for God made a way for us to pray through the Lord Jesus Christ:

  • He has set up a Mercy Seat sprinkled with the blood of Jesus (John3:16)
  • He has prepared a High Priest forever living to make intercession for us (Heb 4:14-16)
  • He has given us the Holy Spirit to help us and comfort us and to teach us to pray (Rom 8:26)
  • The Lord Himself receives our prayers (not an angel or a prophet or a saint or Mary.
  • You have been spared to pray if you are still alive.

We have a great opportunity in prayer:

  • The result of prayer is peace.
  • He will give you what you ask for in prayer (Help, provision, protection, direction, strength)
  • Ask for our plans to be blessed.
  • Ask for the will of God to be revealed to us.

Asking in the Name of Jesus – God answers prayers!

I heard someone quote a statistic that said that only 20% of Christians pray. I found this strange. I would like to be so bold as to say maybe only 20% of those who “call themselves Christians” pray for it is impossible, yes impossible to be a true believer in Christ and to have a relationship with Christ without praying. Being a Christian and not praying will be like a fish taken out of water, you will very quickly lose all your power and die.

Unfortunately I will say that there are many true believers who spend very little time in prayer and that is why they don’t have all that God has intended for them to have. It is probably the main reason why they are living ineffective lives without blessing and revelation. We don’t earn the answers to our prayers by praying or gain merits for blessings or favor when we pray, thank God, through Jesus Christ we have access to it all but if you are not praying you are not tapping into all that god has for you. You are not exercising your dominion and thus the devil is running amuck in your life.

John 16: 23-24 (AMP)

In that day you will not need to ask me anything. I assure you and most solemnly say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My Name as my representative, He will give you.

Untill now you have not asked the Father for anything in my Name; but now ask and keep on asking and you will receive so that your joy will be full and complete.

Do you have faith?

Do you have faith? We look at what faith is and what pleases God. We also see how we can test if we have real faith?

Heb 11:6 “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”

Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses].
Hebrews 11:1 AMP

1. He who has faith has renownced his own righteousness. If you put just one atom of trust in yourself you have no faith.

2. If you put any trust in anything else than what Christ did you have no faith.
If you trust in your works your works are anti-christ and anti-christ and Christ does not go together.

3. Do you have a great esteem for Christ? Do you love His Name? Do you love His people?

4. He who has true faith has true obedience. He who claims to have faith and has no works lies and if anyone claims he believes in Christ yet does not lead a Holy life He makes a mistake. For while we do not trust or believe on good works we know that faith always begets good works.
