The world around us seem to be filled with a lot of darkness and dangers. Sadly we often look to ourselves and our own strengths or even other people (whether it be friends, family, doctors, security companies or even politicians). We long for a quick fix (wealth, weapons, work, works or even drugs) to escape or overcome the darkness. This is like looking to the shadows for answers that only the light of the world (Our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ) knows.
This post or message is about ‘taking back’ or more accurately taking up a power that is already ours through the salvation that is ours through Jesus Christ. The power of prayer. Prayers that will be answered. See God says in His word “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much” (James 5:16) and Proverbs 15:29 “The Lord is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.”
Who are the righteous? Those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and savior. ROMANS 3: 23 “This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.”
The call to prayer comes from God’s word in the following way PHILIPPIANS 4:6 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” and 2 CHRONICLES 7:14 “if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
What happens during prayer is that you are drawing near to God and we know that God’s word says JAMES 4:8 “Come near to God and he will come near to you.”
During prayer we enter into God’s presence and what happens in God’s presence is “Honor and majesty are [found] in His presence; strength and joy are [found] in His sanctuary.” 1 Chronicles 16: 27(AMP) and My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Exodus 33: 14(NKJV) also “You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Psalm 16: 11(NKJV) One of my personal favorites is “You shall hide them in the secret place of Your presence from the plots of man; You shall keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.” Psalm 31: 20(NKJV)
